About me

An Craps lives and works near Brussels and has a background in painting, with studies at the renowned BKO Academy in Overijse and additional training in Venice. She was taught by artists such as Simona, Floris, and Virginie Bails, refining her technique and developing her artistic voice.

Her work plays with the tension between control and chance. She starts with existing images—photographs she takes during walks, capturing abandoned buildings or urban fragments marked by time. But as the process unfolds, she releases this tangible reality, allowing an intuitive new landscape to emerge, where the line between recognition and abstraction blurs.

Her use of materials is as diverse as her process. Combining acrylic, oil paint, and pastel, she creates layered compositions where transparency and texture are crucial elements. Inspired by artists like Cy Twombly and Joan Mitchell, she seeks expressive freedom that allows the viewer not just to see, but to feel.
